This piece is based on a photo of a photo on display at the Hollinger mine tour in Timmins. It very much reminds me of the hoistroom view (or what I remember it to be) when I was a kid in Noranda and taken to the mine where my Dad worked.

When I look at this, I see all roads going somewhere else. But the heart and soul of the community is built between these massive icons. Housing is sometimes raw on the rock, and very individual, also reflected in the commercial sections. Few buildings look alike, and have the timelessness of the once temporary gone permanent. You can walk to work.
